What is Pilates?
Pilates (Pa-lah-teez): An exercise and body conditioning program developed and practiced to simultaneously stretch, strengthen, tone and align the body.
Pilates is a series of isometric exercises that combine concentration and exertion forming an ideal body workout. Each exercise is based on quality of movement, not the number of repetitions.
Pilates is structured around the core muscles of the stomach, hips, lower back and buttocks. Muscles become long and lean with the body becoming sleeker and firmer with consistent use of the Pilates fundamentals. Pilates works the smaller muscle groups which have probably been neglected most of your life.
Pilates:
Do you have poor posture or feel pain from normal daily activities?
This may be a result of weaknesses or imbalances in your core muscles.
Are you already in a training program, but feel you are not reaching your potential?
Pilates will strengthen the deep core muscles of the body and create length in the spine through a series of mat work exercises that addresses strength and flexibility.
The Pilates Method of exercise is designed to give you a leaner, stronger, healthier body that is flexible and pain-free. Over time, the consistent practice of Pilates can completely transform your body, give you more energy, and greatly improve your health.
STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. We co-founded STOTT PILATES over 20 years ago and along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and extremely diligent fitness professionals, we have refined the method of exercise and equipment. This resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and effective methods available. This clear and detailed approach forms the basis for STOTT PILATES training and certification programs. It’s used by rehab and prenatal clients, athletes, celebrities and everyone in between.
